A unique encounter in the mountains of Rwanda

Travel to the heart of Africa and experience one of the continent's most exciting experiences: a face-to-face encounter with mountain gorillas. In just four days, you'll trek through Rwanda's verdant hills, learn about its history and culture, and explore Volcanoes National Park with expert guides.

A short, intense, and deeply transformative trip.

A transformative experience among jungles, mountains and gorillas

Discover the magic of Rwanda

Explore the purest essence of Africa on this short but profoundly intense trip. In just four days, you'll immerse yourself in Rwanda's endless greenery, traversing rolling hills covered in tea plantations, rural roads, and primeval forests that conceal one of the most powerful encounters on the planet: a face-to-face encounter with mountain gorillas.

From your arrival in Kigali, the vibrant and surprisingly modern capital, to your trek in Volcanoes National Park, every moment is designed to connect you with yourself and nature. Accompanied by expert guides, you'll traverse landscapes that look like something out of a documentary, in search of the great apes in their natural habitat.

In addition to the exciting encounter with the gorillas, this trip will take you through the country's recent history, its impressive resilience, and the warmth of its people. Rwanda is much more than the jungle: it is a living culture, moving landscapes, and a constant life lesson.

And as always at Asilion Travels, this itinerary can be tailored to your interests, timeframe, and dreams. From an extension to Uganda to a more in-depth experience with local communities: you decide, we design it with you.

Our Travel Route

Day 1: You land in Kigali, one of Africa's cleanest and safest capitals, where past and present coexist in surprising harmony. Our local team will greet you at the airport with a warm welcome and escort you to your hotel to rest after your trip. Depending on your arrival time, you can get your first taste of the city: stroll along its tree-lined avenues, visit a local market, or simply enjoy the views from a terrace with a Rwandan flavor. Get ready: the best is yet to come. Before leaving home to embark on this adventure, make sure you have everything you need for a smooth trip: * A passport with at least six months' validity and a Rwanda visa (which you can obtain online before your arrival). * Comfortable clothing for the trip. * A plug adapter compatible with Rwandan outlets. * A charged camera or phone to capture the first moments of the adventure. * A desire to explore and discover an unforgettable destination.

Day 2: Exploring Kigali and heading to the Virunga Mountains The day begins with a tour of Kigali, a city that impresses with its modernity, cleanliness, and energy. We'll visit the Genocide Memorial, a poignant space that invites reflection and showcases the impressive resilience of the Rwandan people. Then, we leave the city behind and enter the rolling landscape that gives Rwanda its name "the land of a thousand hills." The journey to Volcanoes National Park is a spectacle in itself: hills covered with tea plantations, small villages, and smiles on the roadside. We'll arrive in the Kinigi area in the afternoon, where a lodge surrounded by nature awaits us, with views of the imposing Virunga volcanoes. Tomorrow, the gorilla trekking adventure begins.

Day 3: Encounter with the Mountain Gorillas – An Experience That Leaves a Mark Today you will experience one of the most powerful moments of your travels. After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the entrance of Volcanoes National Park, where the park guides will assign you a group of gorillas and give you trekking instructions. Accompanied by an expert ranger, you will walk through dense jungle trails, crossing bamboo and giant ferns, following fresh footprints… until suddenly, there they are: the mountain gorillas. You will observe them for an hour, in silence, just a few feet away. You will see how they play, how they care for their young, how they communicate. A profound, exciting encounter, difficult to describe in words. In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge to rest, share your impressions with other travelers, and soak up the magical atmosphere of these mountains.

Day 4: Return to Kigali – End of the Adventure After a leisurely breakfast overlooking the volcanoes, we begin our return journey to Kigali. It's time to mentally recap every moment: the intensity of the trek, the gaze of the gorillas, the silence of the forest... Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy free time in the city to visit a craft market or sample the local cuisine. Our team will accompany you to the airport for your return flight. You'll leave with the certainty of having lived a unique experience, one that leaves a lasting impression and transforms you.
